Nowadays, everyone who is interested in the business of freelance writing and research should have a blog. You can start with a free one over at Blogger or here at Wordpress, although it is better if you get yourself a domain name, find a hosting company and get your blog hosted on Wordpress. Learn how to set up a Wordpress blog in three easy steps over at Doughroller.com. Once you have done this and written a few posts try sites like Elance and iFreelance where writers can bid on jobs.

Don’t expect to make a lot of money to begin with, but you should be able to get a couple of jobs within a month at the outside. If you write well, are polite and helpful to the client and stick to the deadline, you may soon find that you can give up looking for work. You have started down the road of running your own freelance writing business.
