Having just read Monica’s post on her freelance writing blog, I realise that I always use the wrong anchor text without even knowing what I’d done. So when I wrote about moleskins and linked to Monica it didn’t do her any good because Google wouldn’t recognise the anchor text as belonging to her site. I did the same thing with Grizzly, when writing about Adsense tips and with Sharon when recommending her writing mentoring blog

Just in case you may have been linking with the first thing that came into your mind, such as a person’s name, what you should be doing is making sure that the link is relevant to the keywords on their site.I am determined that in future my backlinks will count. I won’t let my links go down the sink when I am writing about my online friends and mentors.
